About the Book
Committed is a book written for those who prefer easy reading as opposed to reading with a Thesaurus in front of them to find the meanings and context of certain words. It is a South African tale which explains the lives of very normal people living very normal lives together with the mundane and also the exciting day to day experiences of being with the Police force in and around Southern Africa.
Skip, a Jack Russell belonging to Terry lives his life as no normal little dog would, and shows his undivided and devoted love to his mistress spending all day with her as she patrols and combats crime on the streets. For his size he is dynamite. He can perform as well as any trained police dog and it pays off in the end as he receives an award for bravery.
Committed is about commitment: love, hate and revenge. It is a lesson of life to those who are still innocent and virginal to life's problems. It focuses on abuse on women and why it is that women in particular find it so difficult to remove themselves out of an abusive relationship.
I hope that you will enjoy the simple but exciting way that the story unravels itself with a cryptic and mysterious dream that Terry frequently has.
About the Author
I was born in Nelspruit then the Eastern Transvaal. I schooled at both Nelspruit Primay and Lowveld High School when my family and I decided to move to Durban Natal.
I completed my schooling in Durban, married and have two children. Apart from working since the age of 16, I have lived a healthy active life being involved in activities of all kinds.
At present I am the headmistress of a Pre-primary cum Junior Primary School, and find this extremely fulfilling and varied in its tasks. This inspired me to write Committed.
Writing has been an ambition of mine for a long time. I did not know where or how to start, or what subject to use. It took me on two years to put the book together and I'm now preparing the sequel Astin's Diary which is a must read. The oppenness of the characters in the books; their honesty and committment to their every day lives appeals to me as it should come across as genuine in thought and deed. Watch children - "out of the mouths of babes" is a famous cliche which I believe in. It's all in Committed and in the sequel - just as it is and how it always will be.
