About the Book
The book describes the author's early years and his gradual descent to the bottom of the job market which encouraged him to join the Royal Navy to try to improve his career prospects. It covers his time as Vice Consul at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) between 1991 and 1994 and describes some of the interesting Consular and Visa cases which he had to deal with. It also describes his love affair with the daughter of a Headhunter's daughter and his visits to her Longhouse deep in the interior of East Malaysia on the island of Borneo close to the Indonesian border.
About the Author
Left school at 14 with no qualifications whatsoever and did a variety of unskilled jobs before joining the Royal Navy as a Communications Operator in 1962. After 10 years in the Royal Navy he joined another British government department for 3 years before joining the Diplomatic Wireless Service and realised that he had to get some educational qualifications in order to transfer to the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office which he did and was awarded his Bachelors Degree from the Open University (distance learning) in 1989. He has travelled extensively and is now living in Beijing with his young Chinese wife.
