It was a great honor ro be born on the same day in the same country as President Carter, and I am also thrilled he selected my birthday to be his.

You know, I'm glad providence tapped the other child born ten miles away to become the thirty-ninth president of the United States. I don't think I would have had nearly as much fun being president. Maybe you will agree after reading my story.

About the Author

Walter L. Bell was born in Americus, Georgia in 1924 on the same day as Jimmy Carter. The births occured about ten miles apart. It wasn't known at the time, but one of them would become president of the United States. Which one would it be?

after graduating from Lanier High School, the author joined the United sates Coast Guard. His Post-War studies included Mercer University and Southern College of Optometry. He practiced Optometry for frty years before retiring.

I didn't know I was living a story until I finished the book. There are some seven million WWII veterans alive today. It's easy to imagine each veteran has three or four stories of their own experiences of the war, their high school days, and the great depression. Most of these stories will never be told. That's 28 million stories that will forever remian silent- I am fortunate, indeed, to be able to tell mine.
