About the Author
Ryan Frueh, born in 1978, grew up most of his first 26 years in the growing town of Edwardsville, Illinois. Fascinated with a love of the outdoors, he joined the Boy Scouts of America at age 11 which produced some of the most influential years in his young life. As a result of serving on Camp Staff for Trails West Council, Ryan developed a life-long bond with his co-workers while "Delivering the Promise" to many of the Council youth.
After his senior year in high school, Ryan enrolled at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and promptly began writing of his days past at Camp Sunnen - providing a solid foundation for Freefallin'. Shortly after college graduation, Ryan began working for a contracting firm near his hometown of Edwardsville, but still remembers the summer job he considers the best in the world - regardless of the pay!
The inspiration and motivation for Freefallin' originated from some of his experiences while working at Camp Sunnen as well as the personal and emotional struggles life presented him in the years following. Ryan dedicates Freefallin' to his family, friends, and the 1993-1995 Camp Sunnen Staff - all of whom made Freefallin' come to life.
