About the Author
Leigh Maria Thomas is a freelance writer who lives in northeastern Oklahoma with her husband and daughter whom they love very much. The original idea for Ray and the Rainbow came about in 1990; however, in 1996, after a series of ''storms'' in life, Leigh received the true inspiration behind the story....
Storms
As the Lord and I walked through the woods today,
He showed me a tree which, in a storm,
had been blown over and lay, with its roots completely exposed,
across a dry stream bed.
What caught my eye about this tree was, it lay there a victim of a forceful wind,
and by all accounts it should have been dead. Yet, the younger branches reached
upward towards heaven and were alive; were blooming even!
This strengthened me because this tree, having experienced a total uprooting
and having fallen completely down, still manages to fulfill its purpose in life:
to leaf out in spring, to thrive during summer,
to shed its foliage in fall and to rest in the winter,
strengthening itself for another year of its broken life.
If this tree can survive the storms it has been through,
how much stronger we can stand through our storms in life
because we have God holding us...and when we need
His strength, we can cling to Him.
