About the Book

The 33 short stories by Leon Berger reveal a common thread of humor and melancholy that will recall moments dear to each and every one of us. They run the gamut of wistful conversation between husband and wife, events that defy explanation and situations existing, but not limited to, life in Boca Raton, Florida.

Survival in Boca Raton is about Harry, who met the challenge of a survival course sixty years ago and tries to recall the experience by 'living off the land' in Sugar Sand Park, a municipal park surrounded by highways.

The Phone Call brings together, for the first time in sixty years, a woman and man who last spoke to each other when they graduated from high school.

The Olive Pusher is about the creative effort of a man with too much time on his hands.

The White Belt takes you out of the walled community in South Florida to the verdant hills of Vermont and the hidden treasures of the flea markets.

There are stories about lottery tickets, fitness centers and conversations that will make you smile; At Years End may bring a tear to your eyes.
