About the Book

Perhaps the perfect bedtime story, Mr. Happy Heart is an educational rhyming children's book about the heart. A sentiment felt by parents and caregivers all over the world, "sleep all night" is strategically placed as the last line of the book.

As an added bonus, the concept of anatomy is introduced in a fun-loving way making Mr. Happy Heart a great educational tool. It is also a great gift for the I-waited-till-the-last-minute-to-study medical student.

Marci is proud to be a National Spokesperson for the American Heart Association.

A portion of the proceeds from every Mr. Happy Heart book purchased is being donated the American Heart Association Legacy of Life Endowment. This endowment will provide a perpetual funding source for congenital heart defect research. To learn more, visit www.americanheart.org.

Marci is currently writing and illustrating more fun organ stories. Bronchial Bill, Kitty Kidney and Wrinkles (the brain) will soon be available.

About the Author

Marci White was born in the back seat of a car in Scranton, PA on Mother's Day, no less. She just couldn't wait to get out to see what the world has to offer. Friends and family consider her a free spirited individual with a very positive attitude.

The famous saying "when life hands you lemons make lemonade" really applies to Marci. For example, when she was nine years old she had heart surgery to fix a congenital heart defect. Instead of letting that get her down she made this organ her passion in life.

Marci went to college to learn everything she could about the heart. She became a Cardiopulmonary Technologist and specialized in adult and pediatric echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart). She was also author and co-author to numerous research articles and studies about the heart during her career.

Marci could really relate to her patients because she'd "been there, done that". So when children were frightened of having an echo, she would read a brochure that she created with Mr. Happy Heart explaining the test. Mr. Happy Heart saved the day; he would ease their fear and help make the test fun.

Marci believes that the old saying "everything happens for a reason" is true. The heart surgery caused her arm to be partially paralyzed. Her Mom, a true genius, enrolled Marci in art classes. For over two years Marci would draw, paint and macramŽ three times a week until full use of her arm came back. She believes that the art classes played a vital part in her artistic ability.

At the young age of thirty-something, Marci had a wonderful life-changing event. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Her passion quickly changed and baby became her world. Due to a fantastic husband, Marci jumped at the idea of being a stay-at-home mom.

After reading and enjoying hundreds of bedtime stories to her daughter, Marci decided to write and illustrate her own story using Mr. Happy Heart. She brought him out of medical literature and developed Mr. Happy Heart! for all children to enjoy.
