About the Author
Ramon M. Sanchez, M.D., was born in Havana, Cuba. He was educated at Tulane University in New Orleans and at the University of Miami; receiving in four years, two BachelorÕs Degrees in Science and Arts, both with honors, cum laude. He graduated from Miami University School of Medicine, earning his M.D. degree. His residency consisted of general surgery, neurosurgery and neurology at Jackson Memorial Hospitals/University of Miami School of Medicine, and at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
He completed a two-year fellowship in epilepsy, EEG, neurophysiology, neuropharmacology and sleep disorders at the Jackson Memorial Hospitals/University of Miami School of Medicine/VA Hospitals, Miami, under Professor Eugene Ramsay, M.D., Director, International Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. Dr. Sanchez also served as a Commander, M.C., U.S.N., as instructor and Director of EEG-Neurodiagnostic Laboratories, Director, Headache and Pain Management Clinic, Director, Complicated OB/ Neurology Clinic and Director of the Sleep Disorders Clinic at the San Diego Naval Hospital.
Dr. Sanchez is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. He is currently in private practice in Atlanta, which consists of neurology, epileptology, headache and pain management, sleep disorders, neurological complications of pregnancy, EEG/neurophysiology diagnostic testing and monitoring, consisting of stationary and/or ambulatory intensive audiovisual TV-EEG telemetry, topographic quantitative EEG brain mapping analysis, evoked potential testing, and nerve conduction/EMG studies including ENG, audiometry and polysomnography.
In the 1990Õs Dr. Sanchez was appointed Chairman of the Professional Advisory Committee for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Georgia Chapter, and presented with an honorary membership on the Board of Trustees.
