About the Book

Skylar Stevens is the widowed mother of a twelve-year old son, Matt, who has been psychologically blind since witnessing the suicide of his father. Seeking a cure for Matt and needing more money than her job as a waitress can provide, Sky musters up the courage to take a few of the paintings she created in her off-time hobby to try to sell to the prestigious Pepperdines Art Gallery. There she meets the owner’s daughter, Noelle Blakeley, who, from the beginning, shows faith in Sky as an artist.

Sky is bolstered by the sale of two paintings to Pappy Blakeley, Noelle’s father-in-law. Pappy befriends Sky and invites her and Matt to spend some time at his sprawling family ranch. It is there that, ironically, Sky begins to discover her own past. She meets and falls in love with ruggedly handsome Apache ranch foreman, Justin Lightfoot, who has issues of his own with nagging childhood memories of his mother’s rape. As the past begins to unfold, Sky and Justin’s romance is abruptly ended as Sky rushes away in tears with the realization that Justin may be her half-brother.

In her first novel, Jackie Zeldin weaves an intriguing and brilliant story of love and drama amidst the intertwining of modern Native American culture in the desert southwest. The healing of psychological scars begins as years of secrets are finally revealed in a highly emotional conclusion.

About the Author

Jackie Zeldin retired after 23 years as a hairstylist. In 2002, she and her husband moved to Reno, Nevada where they now enjoy a more leisurely lifestyle. Not to stay idle, Jackie is now working on her second and third novels.
