“I am the prince whom you seek. I live in the sand castle by the sea.” He rushed on breathlessly: “My questions pertain to my castle. Why is it that every night I have to rebuild it? Why does the ocean take it away from me? Where does it go?” “Slow down, dear prince!” Alycia laughed. “Your questions I will answer one-by-one. But it might be easier to show you. Would you be willing to go on an adventure? I promise to keep you safe.” “An adventure to where, might I ask?” The prince questioned her quite hesitantly. “To where sand castles go, of course!” The mermaid giggled. “But how will I get there?” The prince quietly asked her. “I will take you. I must give you some of my breath, and then you can breathe under the sea. Are you willing?” Alycia asked him. “I am willing. But, why were you searching for me? I did know you before today. How do you know of me?” “Every one where I am from knows of the “Sand Castle Prince”. You are our savior. I was sent by my father, king of the mermaid city, to thank you.” Replied Alycia. “Thank me for what? What have I done?” asked the perplexed prince. “I shall show you. Are you ready?” Alycia asked him, anxious to be on their way. “Yes, I am ready.” And with that, Alycia kissed the prince, filling his lungs with her breath. With a flip of her tail, she pulled Rocky under the waves.

About the Book
While out on the beach, my children, Cory (age 7) and Randi-Kiana(age 3), and I had been building a sand castle all day. When the tide started coming in, I told them we had to go because the ocean was coming up the beach. My little girl, Randi-Kiana, started screaming at the ocean and kicking and hitting the waves with her tiny feet and hands. In order to distract her so I could move her up the beach, I came up with a story about a prince and his sand castles. The children came up with the names of the characters of this story, so it makes it part theirs as well.
About the Author
I am a mother of two wonderful kids, Cory (age 19) and Randi-Kiana (age 15). When I was young, my father used to take us on long car rides, and to entertain us he would make up stories using the road signs as characters. He never wrote down any of his stories. Having home-schooled my children and running a home daycare, I also learned to tell stories off the top of my head in order to entertain them. I did not want to lose my stories the way we lost my dad's. I ride a 2006 Harley Davidson Dyna Superglide whenever I can, and a Ford truck called "Big Mama" when I can't. I currently live with just my husband and our two dogs, three cats, and two guinea pigs in Gresham, Oregon. During the week, I work for a company which manufactures equipment to produce microchips. On the weekends, you can find my husband and me taking a ride on our motorcycle or walking in the woods with our dogs.
