Perspiration trickled down his face as he twisted the knob. He pulled on the door and was frightened out of his mind at what he saw. The clamor that had kept him up all night the last two years—the thing in his closet was … a horse! It neighed and exhaled smoke from its nostrils. It thumped its hooves on the carpeted floor. Wings of fire appeared out of the horse’s chestnut sides as it stepped out of the closet, glowing brightly in the middle of Max’s bedroom. Max stumbled backward, jaw dropped and his eyes staring in bewilderment.

On one frigid night, Max discovers his life is in danger when he is made a target for an evil demon-like faction who siphon the soul out of those who are hopeless. In order to stop them , Max will need to find a crystal which renews the hope within a human. Can he find the crystal? Or will he succumb to a life of despair and despondency?

Zander Griffyn is a self-effacing writer who doesn't approve of the limelight. His interest in fantasy novels stirs from the desire to take powerful words from a dictionary page and weave them into a world unlike his own. Among his leisure time are sports, reading, and an abundance of board games.
