Sometimes Katie felt very left out of things. If only I could go and have fun like everyone else, just for one night, she murmured to herself as she walked slowly down the street heading for home. Usually Katie rushed home from school to play with Max whose antics always made her laugh, but today she just wasn’t up to it. As she passed the familiar stores, Katie threw an unannounced pity party for herself and each step made her more miserable. Katie was a block from home when she noticed a storefront window that she swore was empty just the day before. The window was now overwhelmed with splashes of color that couldn’t possibly go unnoticed. With a gasp, Katie saw an incredibly cool deep pink skirt topped with an outrageous tie-dyed cami in shades of purple and pink draped over a headless mannequin. Over the cami was the neatest jean jacket in soft pink with rows of rhinestones speckling the breast pockets. OMG—it was unreal! This was exactly the outfi t Katie always imagined wearing to her fi rst big party! Wow, Katie thought to herself, this is the most awesome outfi t I’ve ever seen! She decided to investigate what the new shop had to offer, but knew she would never be able to afford the high-end outfi t. With a sense of urgency, something deep inside whispered, It won’t cost anything to try it on! Out of nowhere, a little old lady popped her head around a display and warmly welcomed Katie to the store. “Welcome to Miracles Can Happen, my dear. My name is Angelina. I’m so glad you stopped by.”

About the Author
It’s not enough for Caryn Lesley Blank to enjoy the balmy breezes and laid-back lifestyle of South Florida with her husband, Michael. She has a passion to write, especially for young people who are learning the lessons of life. Caryn’s latest book, Miracles Can Happen: The Ring, reaches tweens and teens. Her first book, The Barnyard Wedding, was written for the younger set. As a mother of three and grandmother of five, Caryn has experienced all that a houseful of children can offer. Caryn created a journal, Treasured Words, for parents to use to record the wonderful words and delightful comments their children say, often uncensored!
