Johnny fell asleep on Grandad’s shoulder. Carefully, Grandad put him back in the cradle. He opened his eyes and looked around. Johnny cooed a little, then he closed his eyes and went back to sleep. “What’s your favorite dinner?” Grandad asked me in a whisper. I whispered back, “ I like spaghetti.” “Excellent choice. That’s what we’ll have.” said Grandad. “But Mama left dinner in the fridge for us to heat up.” I said. “No. Tonight I want only spaghetti,” said Grandad. “Can you really cook spaghetti, Grandad?” I asked. “No, but I know someone who can.” We were talking in regular voices and Johnny never stirred. Grandad phoned a restaurant. He ordered spaghetti dinners followed by Italian ice cream.
