This book was written as fiction, but taken from real life experiences. It is left to your imagination, where reality lies and fiction begins. It will give you insight as to how an Agent picks out a smuggler from a crowd of arriving airline passengers. It will take you through the passenger selection process to the final determination and seizure. This book highlights the achievements of John Rennish in major investigations, while bringing the realities of life and things that occur beyond your imagination. There are several seizures, of large amounts of narcotics, of jewelry and diamonds, as well as plant and animal material. Some of these seizures will make you laugh. This book also touches of the life of airport personnel and the way it really was in the 1960's and 70's.


About the Author

As a retired U.S. Customs Service, Supervisory Customs Special Agent (Criminal Investigator), John has over 28 years experience in all aspects of U.S. Customs civil and criminal investigations. He was a Diplomat, assigned to the American Consulate in Hong Kong. He held the position of U.S. Customs Senior Customs Representative, Hong Kong. His area of jurisdiction and responsibility for investigative and trade matters coveted 17 countries. The area spanned the Pacific from China and Macau to New Zealand and Australia from Pakistan and Nepal to Taiwan and the Philippines. Trade inquiries concerned US import and export laws and regulations, with authoritative responses to inquiries from US and foreign operated businesses. He have provided law enforcement investigative training and assistance to foreign government’s Customs and Police agencies. John has conducted both civil and criminal, as well as sensitive, investigations in foreign countries for US Customs domestic field offices as well as several other federal agencies. He has worked closely with the heads of all foreign Customs Services, Police Agencies and other government agencies to coordinate their request for assistance, in sensitive investigative matters. He served as chief advisor to the Ambassador, of each of the 17 countries, concerning important Customs trade matters and investigations in their country of jurisdiction. He had spent eight years as a Supervisory Special Agent at the U.S. Customs Service, Headquarters in Washington, DC. He was responsible for development and implementation of national policy concerning Customs law enforcement programs. He managed and directed major special operations and programs. He was the deciding authority for all Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act (FOIA/PA) request received by Customs, Office of Enforcement. The following programs were assigned to him during his tenure at Customs Headquarters. He developed a national policy and procedures for these programs: Witness Protection and Relocation; procurement of eenforcement equipment; management of confidential sources and funds; undercover and special operations; electronic intercept and technical equipment; development of the Special Agent Handbook; coordinate, organize crime programs; developed a child pornography protection programs; and cargo theft and security programs. He spent 14 years as a Special Agent, and Customs Port Investigator at U.S. Customs Service, New York office and JFK airport facility. At JFK airport he initiated short and long-term undercover operations targeting organize crime’s infiltration into the airport businesses and theft of imported merchandise. Results; over 100 arrests and convictions with the recovery of several hundred million dollars, in merchandise. He has conducted cargo security reviews of airline cargo facilities, cargo warehouses and container station’s. He conducted searches of vessels and aircraft, perform plainclothes patrols and surveillance, in order to detect violations of law. While working at JFK airport, with arriving passengers, He was able to detect and prevent smuggling of merchandise as well as contraband, into the US. He has seized diamonds, jewelry, gold bars, watches, meat and plant products, prohibited items, as well as narcotics such as heroin and cocaine and hashish and marijuana. His career in Customs had been a rewarding experience.
