It was my sons 4th birthday party my wife asked me to fetch some more fizzy drinks. I ran outside and got in the car, my son Ivan was waving out of the lounge window as I drove off. I wasn’t gone more than ten minutes before I returned home. Ivan was still at the window waving at me. I had to wait at the temporary traffic lights outside our house before I could turn into our drive. Someone honked their horn behind and I was distracted. The next minute Ivan was running across the road. I looked in horror as a car raced through the lights and hit him. He was flung across the bonnet hit the windscreen and landed in the road.

This is a sad story about a boy growing up just after the 2nd world war His abusive and neglected start in life continued throughout his schooldays. Only when he found love did his abuse finish, then to be dealt a cruel blow by his best friend. Only when his mother was dying was he told of the tragic story of his birth and why his father was so abusive towards him. Follow his story through the years of his often explicit teenage sexual experience’s his loves and losses, his triumphs and tragedies until his tragic end.
About the Author
From a Boy to a Man is Alan's 7th book following on from three novels and three ever popular children's books. Alan Whichello was born in London in 1948. He retired from the building industry in 2011 and began writing, in between his other hobbies. He lives in Oxfordshire with his wife Gillian.
