The next morning, mom asked what I'd been doing all day.
I said, "Nothing." Then I added, "Well, I have sort of been cleaning up the vacant lot."
She said that was very nice.
I asked her, "Do you believe in fairies?"
She said, "I believe in magic, the magic inside of you." Then she hugged me.
I said, "Yeah, but do you believe in fairies?"
She just laughed. As she walked out the door, she said, "I wish I had a fairy to do the shopping for me. I'll be back as soon as I can."
I turned on the TV, but I kept thinking about the packs of seeds and the fairy. I turned off the TV and walked to the vacant lot. The three packs of seeds were unopened and Phloxie was sitting near the bricks.
“Okay,” I said. “I’ll help you plant the seeds.”
Immediately, she started dancing around.
I said, “We’ve got work to do.”
But she didn’t do much. She just sort of flew around me as I worked.

About the Author
Penelope Torribio calls herself an ecology artists in that she uses art, music, poetry, story telling, puppetry and photography to help raise awareness of our need to live in balance with all the elements of our world and beyond. She has six nature relaxation DVDs which combine beautiful music with her award-winning nature photography. Designed for kids, adults love them too.
Penelope is a singer-songwriter with ten CDs, and a master puppeteer. Most of her CDs are from her interactive ecological musical puppet shows: The Rain is Coming, rain forest ecology; Dinosaur Dance, how not to become extinct; Under the Blue Blue Sea, ocean ecology; Guardians of the Earth, animal show, The Grass is Green, farm animal show and In Outer Space, space ecology. Penelope's shows and workshops are popular in ecological and family events throughout Southern California and beyond. One of Penelope's love is teaching writing to children. She teaches kids that writing is just plain fun.
