About the Author
My name is Ioannis “Yiannis” Saroukos, the son of Spiro and Nomiki. I descend from the state of Dodecanese, Greece, and from the island of sponges, Kalymnos, which is and will remain always in my heart and soul. I feel an obligation to fulfill a promise that I gave to a person that, unfortunately, is not with us today, my wife, Despina, the mother of my children. I will open my heart to narrate a true story without fear and passion, about my life. The title of the story is Return to our Roots, and I dedicate this to my wife, Despina as a memorial; and my three children, Irene, Pantelis, and Nomiki; my two son-in-laws, Valanti and John Jr.; and grandchildren, Savvina, Despina, Rinoula, and the little one that the stork will be bringing in the middle of July 2012.
