"Well, I can't wait to hear the rest of the story after this ocean trip," Kannan said happily. Dakota chuckled and opened his mouth to speak when the happy grin suddenly disappeared off his face. Lt. Colonel Carter knew something bad was up when Dakota's forehead suddenly wrinkled up and an angry scowl quickly formed on his face. Everyone was suddenly on edge.
"Dakota, are you okay? What's wrong?" Cody asked with concern.
"Uh, I'm sensing something...," Dakota paused as he grimaced and briefly closed his eyes in deep concentration. Dr. Jackson suddenly recognized the look on Dakota's face. It was the same one he'd had when a sonic bomb blew up the Crimson City building they were in.
"Oh crap," Lt. Colonel Mitchell said nervously as Dakota gasped suddenly. Mitchell's instinct told him they, and the train they were on, were about to be royally screwed.
"NO...NO, NO, NO...DAMMIT!" Dakota yelled as everyone heard a low thunderous boom in the distance ahead of the fast moving maglev. KA-BOOM! Several other passengers in the observation car snapped their heads to look over at a yelling Dakota. They wondered what was going on. Several people in the car yelped as strong vibrations suddenly shot through the maglev rail they were on and shook the train violently. SCREECH-THUNK-SCREECH! The maglev train suddenly bottomed out a few times as the once perfectly straight monorail track began to buckle like spaghetti. Daryl just rolled his eyes and held on for dear life.
"Oh, good grief, will these freaking Venusian terrorists EVER learn," Daryl growled as the maglev train was shook back and forth. Several people were thrown from their seats. General O'Neill looked ahead and saw a wide gap in the maglev monorail track about fifteen hundred feet ahead of the train. And they were rapidly approaching the break. They'd hit it in less than ten seconds at the speed they were going.
"Oh crap; so much for a nice quiet train ride," General O'Neill said with rolled eyes when he glanced over at Dakota and saw him concentrating hard. O'Neill swiftly shut his eyes because he knew what was about to happen next. FLASH! There was a bright flash of light and the high speed train suddenly came to an instant stop, at least it appeared to be. Carter noticed the train was now slowly inching along at about five mph. Carter chuckled when she realized that Dakota had engaged his time distortion field. The train was still heading towards the break in the track, just much slower. She guessed it would now take them about two minutes to get to the break. The opposite rail was also buckled but now severed. Cody narrowed his eyes when he suddenly realized only he, Dakota, and the others traveling with him were still moving. The other passengers in the observation car appeared to be frozen in time. Cody guessed Dakota had restricted the time distortion field to only surround those traveling in his group. Dakota opened his eyes but still appeared to be concentrating hard.
"Are you okay, Dakota?" Daryl asked sweetly as he laid a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm fine. I'm just a bit irritated those boneheads tried to smoke me again," Dakota said with a furrowed brow. Everyone noticed Admiral Benicia, who was also aboard, was as calm as ever even though she had a firm grip on her chair armrests.
"Do you have a plan?" Cody asked nervously. Zach just scoffed.
"What do you think, bonehead?" Zach snorted. Cody just glared at him.
"Gentlemen, NOT now; Dakota needs to concentrate," Lt. Colonel Carter instructed as she stared the twins down. She couldn't wait to see what Dakota had planned and knew it would be, fascinating. She noticed Dakota's body was beginning to glow with bluish-white light.
"Yes ma'am, sorry," Zach and Cody said in near perfect unison.
"Yes, Cody, I have a plan. Everyone, hold on," Dakota said calmly. With a devious grin, he closed his eyes again. Everyone held on as they saw another bright flash and then the maglev was suddenly going three hundred mph again with the track buckling wildly. The train got to the end of the broken track, plunged into the deep ocean, and sank like a large boulder. Some Venusian terrorists, who'd remotely detonated the sonic bomb, were in a boat nearby and were certain Dakota and everyone in his party was dead, or so they thought. The terrorists were about to be in for the surprise of their lives.
