“What do you think Michael’s going to do~you know~” Cassandra was still so weak she could barely raise her head from the pillows! And if Matt was going to keep showing up, she wished she could find energy to make herself presentable
“What do you mean? Are you thinking he should take her back? Just cause she’s all busted up, with nowhere to go?”
She squeezed her eyes shut! The last thing she wanted to do was get in a fight with anyone! Especially not Matt! Tears slid down her cheeks in spite of her efforts to quell them!
“Hey, sorry! I know you rushed to her rescue! And the baby’s! Ran yourself ragged, actually! I can’t fault you for caring, if you can resist judging me for not!”
All she could manage was a silent nod! She did care! She cared passionately! No one deserved to be beaten and brain-damaged! She was still at a loss for grasping Eddie’s motives for the attack! And Gina wasn’t coherent enough to shed any light before they eased her back to the coma! She might not ever remember what happened to her! Or know why! She wondered if Michael had any compassion for his child~but Matt was the wrong one to ask! That was one of her problems! She asked other people what she wondered about rather than going to them directly! She berated herself for coming across as a gossip, when she just really cared!
