(It was about 4:00 am when the old wooden floor made a loud squeaking sound.) Jacob. Maw is that you? Maw. Yeah, it's me. I gots up to fix you's some breakfast and lunch. Jacob. I gots to be leavin' pretty soon. You knows that boss don't take kindly of those who be gettin' to work late. He says that if I works hard enough, I coulds buy this here house from him. I knows the flo' squeaks, the roof leaks, and the wind blows through the walls, but this coulds be ours. Maw. Jacob, I thoughts we be free, but you still works like a slave. And for what, this old shack! We's gots only bedroom, and it right smack in the middle of the house. I is late! We is going to haves us a baby, and we is gonna need some mo' room.

About the Author
Your author Paul Jones was born in Pine Bluff Arkansas. Paul spent several years in the United States Armed Forces, where his travels has taken him as far away as Califorinia, Germany, and Honduras, to name a few. Paul also worked in Law-enforcement for over twenty-three years. As a member of the law-enforcement, he served as a member of S.W.A.T, bike patrol and a school resource officer and director of security for a local high school. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Delta Sigma Lamba chapter. He has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from, American Intercontinental University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Paul has other books to his credit: Standing Alone, Life and Love, A Flavor of Stories, and Living Life Poems to Live by. He has also received awards, and positive reviews.
